How We Started

Last January 4-10, 2015, different Transparency International (TI) chapters all over Asia sent 33 youth representatives to the first International Youth Camp organized by TI-Cambodia. TI is the global civil society organization leading the fight against corruption.

The week-long camp provided the youth representatives with opportunities to learn about good governance, acquire skills in using ICT tools that will help them fight corruption in their home countries, and network with like-minded young people from the region.

But perhaps, the highlight of the Camp was the creation of the Youth Movement for Transparency Asia-Pacific (YMTA), a seven-country strong network of young people committed to the global fight against corruption.

YMTA is the first official youth arm of TI globally with members from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Papua New Guinea.

What We Do

Our mission is to mobilize the youth of Asia-Pacific to take part in various innovative and independent ventures that further the global anti-corruption movement. The theme of these initiatives will be centered on ideas that promote transparency, accountability and integrity.

Our vision is an environment in the Asia-Pacific where the youth can freely imbibe and promote the values of transparency, accountability, and integrity by independently taking on initiatives that advance the fight against corruption.

Our main goal is to engage the youth to become a part of our movement
through creative initiatives that revolve around the issues of human rights, good governance, and transparency. We will do so in different ways depending on the pressing issues in the region and the current interest of the youth.

Our first project is Arts for Transparency, a photo and video competition to be held in the countries where we have a local presence.
